Zathura
Even though Zathura does play as somewhat of a Jumanji clone, it is still worthy of your family's attention.  This time a game takes the home it is played in to outer space.  It gets wild and imaginative, and always fun.  Its twists are imaginative, and the special effects are seamless.  This is a big fantasy movie with just the right amount of realism and heart.  There is plenty to keep the whole family involved.  It might be too scary for the little ones, though.  But I really liked it.  3 ½ Stars Out of 5

Zodiac
While it is interesting, Zodiac is way too long.  For the most part the performances are very good.  Mark Ruffalo is turning into a very good actor and shows it here.  Robert Downey Jr. is quirky and terrific, while Jake Gyllenhaal is passable but a bit underwhelming.  The story is fairly involving, but the unsolved nature of the true crimes this is based on, make for a less than satisfying conclusion.  3 Stars Out of 5

Zoom
Tim Allen tries to do an impersonation of Billy Bob Thornton in Zoom, but instead of being a lovable curmudgeon, he's just cynical, bitter and not likeable.  And that's the best part of this cheesy movie with bargain bin written all over it.  And watch out for a hideous performance by Chevy Chase that ought to earn him a razzie.  1 ½ Stars Out of 5
